Kenneth W. Smythe

Kenneth W. Smythe, age 78, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio
died Tuesday afternoon, December 16, 2008, while working
on the grounds at Camp Trinity in Upper Sandusky.

He was born on November 29, 1930 in Pitt Township, Wyandot County, to Glen M. and Charlotte F. (Secoy) Smythe, both of whom are deceased. He went on to graduate from Upper Sandusky High School in 1948.

Kenneth married Priscilla Wright on November 6, 1954 in Larchmount, New York, and she survives.

Also surviving are four children: Brandt Smythe of Dania Beach, Florida; Nadine (Bruce) Hash of Westerville, Ohio; Sylvia (Jeff) Kellner of Springboro, Ohio and Bruce (Kelly) Smythe of Sutton, Massachusetts. Along with eight grandchildren: Molly, Will and Sara Hash; Josh and Jennifer Kellner; Tess, Gordy and Kate Smythe. Kenneth is also survived by a brother, Frank Smythe of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by a brother Paul and a sister Jeanette Valentine.

Kenneth was the owner and operator of Tip-Off Company for over 30 years, along with farming. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky for over 40 years, where he was active as the caretaker of Camp Trinity, singing in the choir, and was on the Consistory at the church. He was a life member of the BPOE #83 in Upper Sandusky and also served at one time on the board with the Council on Aging. Kenneth also was a volunteer with Fairhaven Home in Upper Sandusky.

For hobbies, he enjoyed gardening, following sports, traveling and spending time with friends and especially his children and grandchildren.
