Kenneth P. Brunson

Kenneth P. Brunson, age 86, of rural Nevada, Ohio passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at his home in Nevada.

Kenneth was born on September 6, 1924 in Lewistown, Ohio to Lewis and Bessie (Plum) Brunson, both of whom are deceased. He married Phyllis J. Davis on August 1, 1959 in the Church of God in Degraff, Ohio, and she survives.

Surviving are 6 children: Michael (Lorna) Brunson of Lewistown, Ohio, Leatrice Runkle of Waynesfield, Ohio, David (Charlene) Brunson of Nevada, Devra (Jeffrey) Bailey of Nevada, Davina (Rob) Stiles of Nevada, Ohio, and Darick Brunson of Nevada, along with fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Stanley Brunson, and a sister Mary Gonterman.

Kenneth retired from the Food, Dairy and Drug Agency for the state of Ohio where he had worked for many years.

For hobbies Kenneth was a mechanic, loved to work on cars, in his younger years he was involved in professional roller derby, he helped in the war effort in the manufacturing of aircrafts during WWII, he was a 4-H advisor and enjoyed helping others.

He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Bucyrus. For hobbies Kenneth enjoyed farming, having helped this past year with the raking of the hay. He also enjoyed gardening, helping in his son's greenhouse, doing crossword puzzles. He regular attended many Wynford sporting events and enjoyed following the OSU Buckeyes in football and basketball. He also enjoyed watching Christian TV Channel 39 in Marion and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Funeral services for Kenneth Brunson will be held at 3:30 PM on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Bucyrus with the Rev. Ray Lasalle officiating the services. Burial will be at a later date in Nevada Cemetery.

Visitations will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 from 3pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm at the Nazarene Church in Bucyrus.
