Julia V. Kissling, age 99, of Upper Sandusky, and formerly of Nevada, Ohio, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 3:40pm at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.

Julia was born on April 5, 1916 in Crane Township, Wyandot County, Ohio, to Otto and Lucia (Hollett) Vent, both of whom are deceased. She married Noland Kissling on February 12, 1943 and he died on July 27, 1993.

Survived by a son, Glenn (Melanie) Kissling of London, OH., and a daughter in law, Karen Kissling of Fredericktown, OH., and 3 grandchildren: Kevin (Kristen) Kissling, Laurie Kissling, Brad Kissling and 4 step grandchildren: Clelie (Jon) Peck, Brady (Salina) Shoaf, Jared Shoaf and Lance Shoaf, and 13 great grandchildren. A sister Muriel Brown survives in Lake Forest Park, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Noel Kissling, a brother Henry Vent, and a sister Faythe Vent.

Julia was a retired school teacher having first taught in in Upper Sandusky for 2 years, then at the Nevada Elementary School. She retired from teaching after 36 years.

Julia was a graduate of Nevada High School Class of 1934 and then attended Heidelberg College in Tiffin and Bowling Green University, graduating in 1936 with her teaching certificate.

She was a life member of the Nevada Lutheran Church. A member of the Wyandot County Retired Teachers, Ohio State Retired Teachers Association. She was a charter member of the Partners in Health with Wyandot Memorial Hospital.

Julia enjoyed any activity associated with the church, bible studies, reading, and raising and tending to her African Violets, and spending time with friends and family.

Services will be held at 11:00am Friday, April 24, at the Nevada Lutheran Church, Nevada, Ohio, with Gene Luidhardt, S.A.M. and Rev. Tim Nelson. Burial will follow at Nevada Cemetery.

Visitations will be held from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 401 S. Main St. Nevada, OH 44849, and 1 hour before service time at the church on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Nevada Lutheran Church or Wyandot Memorial Hospital and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 401 S. Main St. Nevada, OH 44849.
