Josette E. Lucas, age 84, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away unexpectantly on Friday, March 17, 2023, as the result of an auto accident in Upper Sandusky.
Jo was born on December 1, 1938, in Biarritz, France to Rene and Francine (Latapy) Bourtayre. Her father died in World War II, and her mother later remarried William Seamans, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Paul T. "Ted" Lucas on March 1, 1956, in Paris, France, and Ted passed away on February 18, 2015.
She is survived by three sons, Philip (Patty) Lucas of Findlay, Ohio, Eric (Marjie) Lucas of Wallace, North Carolina, and Daniel (Renee) Lucas of Nevada, Ohio. Along with Fourteen grandchildren, Suzanne (Matt) Crouch of Findlay, Jonathon (Ashley) Lucas of Findlay, Brett Lucas, Kevin Lucas both of Denver, Colorado, and Emily (Sgt. Alex) Vogel of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Spencer (Joy) Lucas of Brooklyn, New York, Zachary (Jamie) Lucas of Upper Sandusky, Sarah (Riordan) McClain of Nevada, Hannah (Tony) Capuano of Gahanna, Ohio, Meredith (Andrew) Raboin, of Nevada, Noah (Abigail) Lucas of Nevada, Zeb (Bailee) Lucas of Nevada, Will (Cleo) Lucas of Abbortsford, BC Canada, and Sophia Lucas, of Nevada, and twenty-three great grandchildren, and a brother, Patrick Seamans, of Los Angeles, California.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Pierre Bourtayre, and a sister, Margaret Brunner.
Jo was a homemaker, and worked along with her husband Ted, with the family funeral home for many years. She was a member of the former St. Peter's Catholic Church, and recently attended John Stewart United Methodist Church, both in Upper Sandusky.
For hobbies Jo enjoyed traveling to Europe to see family, spending time at her home in Apple Valley, cooking and baking, especially cakes, knitting, reading, and taking care of her Bishon Frise puppies.
Funeral services for Josette E. Lucas will be held at 11:00am, Monday, March 27, 2023, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, March 26, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
