Jose "Rick" Ricardo Amesquita Sr.

Jose “Rick” Ricardo Amesquita, age 68, of Upper Sandusky, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on September 23, 2026. Rick was born on April 8, 1958, to Narciso and Alicia (Garza) Amesquita.

Rick married the love of his life, Sandra Kay Stansbery, on August 18, 1979. Together, they built a life and a family that meant everything to him. He was a devoted husband, an amazing father, and a proud grandfather, affectionately known as Pawpaw and Grandpa A to his grandchildren.

In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, karate, and turning his garage into a place where he and his friends could work out and enjoy boxing. He called it “Jose’s Gym.”

Rick spent 40 years working at Guardian (Custom Glass Solutions) before retiring in 2020. He was the kind of person who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Whether he was fixing something around the house, helping a friend with a construction project, or simply mowing someone’s lawn, Rick was always willing to help. He never did it for recognition—helping people was simply who he was.

Rick had a unique ability to see the good in people. He could make just about anyone laugh, and his friends were more than friends; they were family. His family, friends, and music were among his greatest passions, along with watching videos of boxing and near-death experiences. He loved being around people and had a way of making those around him feel welcome and loved.

Above all, Rick was a man who loved deeply. He treasured his family and was incredibly proud of his grandchildren: Aidan, Jordan, Emma, Bryson, and Gavin, as well as his soon-to-arrive great-granddaughter, Neveah, whom he was looking forward to meeting.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Kenneth Fox, and nephew Julius Colvin.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Kay Amesquita; his children, Lennah Amesquita and Jose Amesquita II; his grandchildren, Aidan and Jordan Amesquita, Emma and Gavin Zink, and Bryson Amesquita; his soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Neveah; and his siblings, Manuel (Sharon) Amesquita, Narciso “Junior” (Mary) Amesquita, Mary Fox (Amesquita), Linda (Steve) Miller, Rosie Myers (Amesquita), Johnny Amesquita, and Raul “Kenny” Amesquita. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Rick leaves behind a lifetime of memories and countless people who were better for having known him. His laughter, kindness, love of music, helping hands, and unique spirit will live on in the hearts of the people who loved him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He wasn't just Pawpaw, Grandpa, Dad, husband, brother, or friend—he was Rick. One of a kind, full of life, and impossible to replace.

There will be a celebration of life service at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Trinity Evangelical Church, with a time of food and fellowship following the service until 6:00 p.m.
