Jonathan K. Miller, age 57, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
He was born on January 19, 1957 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to J. Madison and Edith (Furman) Miller. His father is deceased and his mother, Edith is living in Ocean City, New Jersey. He married Jenni Bacon on March 5, 1983 at the First Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky, and she survives.
Jonathan's beloved family also includes his daughters Grace and Lauren & her husband Clint Richey, of Upper Sandusky, and Elizabeth Miller of Lawrence, Kansas; and two brothers and their families, Stephen & Andrea and their son Christopher Miller of Truckee, California (Lake Tahoe area), and Philip & Denise Miller and their daughter Rachel of Weston, Florida.
Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Ruth Bacon, and brother- and sister- in law, David & Laura Bacon, as well as nephew and nieces and their spouses and children: Alec & Anne (Rothlisberger) Bacon, Katherine & Mark Niederkohr, Jordan & Graham Treadway, Jessica & Greg Moon.
Jonathan graduated from Philadelphia's William Penn Charter School in 1975 and went on to do his undergraduate studies at Williams College, graduating in 1979. He then received his Juris Doctor Degree from The Ohio State University College of Law in 1982.
Jonathan served as the Wyandot County Prosecutor since 2006, and Assistant Prosecutor since 2000. Prior to that, he was in private practice with Upper Sandusky's law firm Roth & Bacon; Philadelphia's Rapp, White, Janssen & German; as well as the nation's oldest law firm Rawle & Henderson. He and Jenni moved their family to the Upper Sandusky area in 1995; they enjoyed playing softball together in the church league, and he also played in the men's leagues. Jonathan took great joy in creating theatre sets for Star Players productions and working with his wife and family on Star Kids workshops. He was member and president of the Star board, served as an EMT with Wyandot County EMS, worked on and headed up Family Fest celebrations, was a member and past president of the Upper Sandusky Rotary Club, was a board member and volunteer for the Red Cross, mentored students at Union School, and coached and refereed Upward and many other youth sports. Jonathan took greatest delight in coaching his daughter Grace through years of youth soccer in Upper Sandusky and Riverdale. Jonathan was an elder, deacon and member of The First Presbyterian Church, and acted as Gamesmeister for the annual church picnic. He was really good at making pancakes, which came in handy when he worked the annual pancake breakfast at the Masonic Lodge, of which he was a member. He also loved teaching classes and seminars on law and government in the local middle and high schools. Like George Bailey, he really had a wonderful life.
