JoAnn Sand, age 84, of Nevada, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at her home in Nevada.

JoAnn was born on July 31, 1940 in Boone County, West Virginia, to Henry and Lottie (Halstead) Wood, both of whom preceded her in death.  She married Larry "Buck" Sand on December 9, 1967 in Marion, Ohio, and he passed away on January 17, 2015.

She is survived by her 4 children: Mike Sullivan of Sycamore, Laura (Gilbert) Bucher of Nevada, Brian (Anna Phillips) Sand of Bucyrus, and Brenda Sand of Nevada.  9 grandchildren: Ashlee, Josh, Zach, Nichole, Ricky, Johnny, Jaid, Kymber, and Logen, along with 13 great grandchildren, and a daughter in law, Judy Sullivan of Nevada.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son John Sullivan, and a brother Jack Wood.

JoAnn was a 1958 graduate of Bucyrus High School, and after marrying Buck, she kept busy raising her family, helping out on the farm, and in later years, owning and operating Buck's Place for many years.

She was a member of the Nevada Lutheran Church, former member of the Nevada Ladies Fireman's Auxiliary, and one of the original members of the Nevada EMS.

For hobbies, JoAnn enjoyed reading, watching Hallmark movies, cooking, baking, canning, fishing, and most of all, spending time with her family.

Funeral services for JoAnn Sand will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Pastor Steve Sturgeon officiating.  Burial will follow at Nevada Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to enjoy a meal celebrating JoAnn's life to be held in the reception room of Lucas Batton immediately following the burial.

Visitations will be held on Friday, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wyandot Memorial, and/or the Wyandot East EMS, and can be sent to Lucas Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
