Joan A. Rall

Joan A. Rall, age 93, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 1:51am in the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.

Joan was born on June 26, 1920 in Wyandot County, Ohio, to Leo and Mary K. (O'Connor) Voelker, both of whom are deceased. She married Albert G. Rall on June 29, 1939 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky, and he died on June 8, 2001.

She is survived by a son Albert L. (Toni) Rall of Upper Sandusky, and 2 daughters, Joyce Tesmer and Nancy (Richard) Hoy, both of Marion, Ohio. 6 grandchildren, Chris (Nichole) Rall, Patrick (Suzie) Tesmer, Susan Tesmer, Jason Hoy , Jeremy (Falicia) Hoy, and Jennifer (Brian) Crowe. Along with 6 great grandchildren, Isabel, Jude, Zachary, Aydden, Liam and Madalynn.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Mary Kay Rall, a brother Robert Voelker, and 2 sisters, Mary Leona Steiert, and Florence Halter.

Joan was a homemaker and had worked for Vogel's Shoe Store and Day's Newsstand, both formerly in Upper Sandusky.

A 1938 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and a lifelong devoted member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She also was a member of the Rosary Alter Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia, and volunteered as the school librarian in her earlier years.

For hobbies, she loved to play cards, read novels, and an avid OSU fan watching almost every football and basketball game.

Joan will be remembered for her love of sweets and how she enjoyed sharing her treats with others, for she loved everyone. This love was also evident in the way she reached out to others with many cards and notes, with her beautiful handwriting, that she faithfully sent out. She will be greatly missed.

A funeral mass for Joan A. Rall will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the St. Peter's Catholic Church Upper Sandusky, with Rev. J.R. Hadnagy OFM Conv. and Msgr. Robert Schneider officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.

Visitations will be held on Tuesday, February 11, from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with a CLC Memorial Service to be held at 7:45pm at the funeral home.
