Joan M. (Joanie) Long

Joan M."Joanie" Long, age 82, formerly of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, died on December 7, 2012 at the Madison Senior Living Community in London, Ohio.

She was born on July 6, 1930 in Massillon, Ohio to Charles E. and Vivian P. (Huff) Roseman. They preceded her in death, as did a special aunt and uncle, Irma and Walter Gummere, who were great influences in her life.

On October 7, 1951, she married Robert C. Long at Emanuel United Church of Christ in rural Upper Sandusky. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2006.

Surviving are her children Connie Nance and her husband, Terry, of London, Ohio and Steve and his wife, Ruth, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, three grandchildren: Amy Ranalli and her husband, Mark, of Westerville, Ohio, Michael and Johnathon Long both of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and two great grandsons: Nico and Rocco Ranalli.

Preceding her in death is a granddaughter, Erin Nance.

Joanie graduated from Massillon City Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She was a Registered Nurse at Wyandot Memorial Hospital for over 30 years, retiring in 1989.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012.
