Joan was born to O.J. and Norma M. (Hoppes) Weiker Sr. on June 18, 1928 in Tiffin, Ohio. She graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1946 and went on to Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio.
She married James F. Houser Sr. on March 27, 1947 and he died on April 10, 1991.
Surviving are 3 sons: James F. (Barbara) Houser Jr. of Noblesville, Indiana; Jeffrey L. (Sharon) Houser of Upper Sandusky; Joseph S. Houser of Spring, TX and a daughter Jane Ann (Jesse) Jones of Spring, Texas.
7 Grandchildren: Brian Houser, Janelle Ayers, Joey Houser, Jay Houser, Melissa Jones, Stephanie Jones and Zachary Jones and 10 Great Grandchildren.
Joan is also survived by 2 sisters; Adda Jane Wiegman of Ft. Wayne, IN and Eloise Brown of Rochester, IN. 2 Sister In Laws; Floy Jane (Houser) Creamer of Upper Sandusky and Barbara (Weiker) Evans - Grand Rapids, MI
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband James F., and brother Oscar J. Weiker Jr.
Joan was a lifetime member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky. She also was a member of Tri Sigma - Alpha Chapter Sorority and enjoyed playing in several Bridge Clubs.
Joan taught swimming lessons for many summers with the Red Cross. She was an avid reader and golfer playing both at Stone Crossing and Lincoln Hills in Upper Sandusky
