Joan M. Denman

Joan M. Denman, age 77, of Harpster, Ohio died Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 6:18pm at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.

Joan was born on February 1, 1932 in Kenton, Ohio to Arthur B. and Grace (Hunt) Lowry both of whom are deceased. She married Joe Denman on July 3, 1954 at John Stewart United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky, Ohio and he survives..

Surviving Joan is a son, David (Linda) Denman of Del Rio, Texas and a daughter Anne of Upper Sandusky. Along with two grandsons Matthew (Amanda) Denman and Benjamin (Maritza) Denman, one granddaughter, Adrienne Johnson, one great grandson, David Phillip, and a sister, Louise Laucher of Delaware, Ohio.

Joan graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1950 where she was the co-valedictorian in her class. She went on to graduate from Miami University in 1954 with a bachelor's degree in Education. Joan started as an English teacher for Upper Sandusky High School, she then went on to receive her degree in Speech Pathology from Bowling Green State University. Joan implemented the speech therapy program for the Upper Sandusky School System. She retired with a total of 32 years of service in 1992.

Joan was a 67 year member of John Stewart United Methodist Church. She was a charter member of the Beta Usando Club and also a member of the Tri Sigma Sorority. For hobbies Joan enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, knitting, and for many years she kept a daily journal. Joan was also an avid reader.

Joan and Joe spent their summers together at Bay Point in Marblehead, Ohio, their winters in Palm Shores, Florida, and she loved to spend time with her family. She was affectionately known to her grandchildren as "Moga".

It was Joan's wish to be cremated upon her death.

A Memorial Service will be held at 8:00pm on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, Ohio with the Rev. Wayne Geissinger officiating the service.

Visitations will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 2pm - 4pm and 6pm - 8pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Upper Sandusky Community Library, John Stewart United Methodist Church - Building Fund, or the Wyandot County EMS in care of Lucas-Batton Funeral Home 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
