Jennifer "Jen" L. Young

Jennifer "Jen" L. Young, age 51, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 28, 2018 at Heartland Rehabilitation of Bucyrus, Ohio, after a tremendously fought and courageous battle with Scleroderma Pulmonary Hypertension Disease.

Jen was born on August 29, 1966 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to Norman Sr. and Alice (Rall) Smith, both of whom are deceased.  She was once married to Allen Young.

She is survived by her daughter Desiree Young of Upper Sandusky, along with her siblings: Theresa (Bill) Brust of Upper Sandusky, Pat (Lee) Karg-Stump of Upper Sandusky, Steve (Pam) Smith of Upper Sandusky, Jude (Mike) Lucas of Harpster, Norman (Deb) Smith Jr., of Upper Sandusky, and Daniel (Connie) Smith of Upper Sandusky. Along with many nieces and nephews.

Jen was a 1984 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and attended OSU part-time in Marion.  She worked for over 16 years at Guardian Industries in Upper Sandusky retiring in recent years because of her illness.

She was a member of Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church and also was a Catholic Ladies of Columbia member.   She was also a member of the American Legion Auxillary #225 in Upper Sandusky.

Jen thoroughly enjoyed listening to country music, attending concerts with her family and friends, and watching movies.  She loved being outside, whether it was swimming, walking, or riding her bike. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball, roller-skating, riding her motorcycle, and also doing karate, where she obtained her black belt.

She will always be remembered for her bright spirit and positive outlook on life.

Her body has been donated to The Ohio State University for research.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 31, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.   A CLC service will be held at 6:45pm on Thursday.
