James “Jim” A. Shafer, age 90, of Camdenton, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri, due to complications with pneumonia.

Jim was born on February 12, 1936, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to Gordon Keith and Lillian Loraine (Kuenzli) Shafer, both of whom are deceased. He married Ruth Saffer-Tucker on June 2, 1984, and she survives.

He is also survived by children, Kelly Shafer of Marion, Ohio, Diana Hankins of San Diego, CA, and Paul Tucker of Gardner, Kansas. 4 grandchildren, Eric Shafer, Laniesa Shafer, Kyle Hankins, and Nicole Harris, along with 3 great grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jeffery Shafer and a daughter, Pamela Shafer, brother David Shafer, and a sister Susan Westmoreland.

Jim graduated in 1955 Upper Sandusky High School and then went on to serve our country in the United States Air Force. He retired as a Technical Sergeant in 1975 after 20 years of service. He later worked for Sprint for many years retiring in 1995 as a graphic equipment repairs.

For hobbies he enjoyed traveling, going to auctions, and will be remembered for his sense of humor.

Visitations for James A. Shafer will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Immediately following the visitation, the family will be processing to Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky, for graveside service to be conducted by Rev. Jim Stauffer, and concluding with military graveside rites by the Upper Sandusky Honor Guard.
