James E. Minehart Sr

James (Jim) E. Minehart Sr., 83, of Lancaster passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at 12:30am in Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio.

Jim was born on December 7, 1924 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to the late Lucas and Irene (Coke) Minehart Sr.. He married Lois Bateman on June 29, 1952 in Lancaster and she died November 7, 2006.

He is survived by a son James E. (Carol) Minehart Jr. of Upper Sandusky, Ohio and a daughter, Rebecca S. Minehart of Pickerington, Ohio. Two grandchildren, J.J. (Michele) Minehart and Sarah (Rick) Bendele both of Upper Sandusky and a great granddaughter Aleena Grace Bendele.

Jim was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christina L. Minehart and a brother, Lucas Minehart Jr., and sisters, Janet Evans and Ruth Pulsinelli.

Jim was a machinist for more than 37 years having retired from
Boeing in Columbus. He was a 1944 graduate of Lancaster High School. He went on to attend Ohio University and then served in the Marine Corp during World War II.

He was a member of the Fairfield Christian Church and the American Legion-Fairfield Post #11. Jim enjoyed golfing, woodworking, both
vegetable and flower gardening, especially raising his roses and wintering in Florida.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 12, at 1:00pm at the Good Shepherd Church in Lancaster. The Rev. Mark Barbee will be conducting the service with burial taking place in Forest Rose Cemetery following the church services.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am until service time at the church on Saturday. Memorial contributions can be made to the Christina L. Minehart Memorial Scholarship and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, PO Box 207, Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
