James C. Miller, age 77, of Upper Sandusky, and formerly of Findlay, Ohio, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014 at 8:25pm at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.
Jim was born on April 15, 1936 in Findlay, Ohio, to James and Coral (Pickens) Miller, both of whom are deceased. He married Sue Seel on April 25, 1993 in Carey, Ohio, and she survives in Upper Sandusky.
He is survived by a daughter, Amy Miller of Worthington, Ohio, and 2 sons, Robert S. Miller of Worthington, and Monte Miller of Upper Sandusky. Along with 3 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Thomas, Katie, and 3 great granddaughters, Isabella, Jewel, and Lucy.
Jim is also survived by a sister, Paula S. Miller of Riverside, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ann Rockwell.
Jim was retired from Budd Company in Carey, where he had worked for 15 years. Before that he was a journeyman plumber working in Findlay and also worked as a police officer for the City of Findlay.
He was a 1956 graduate of Findlay High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army as a military policeman.
Jim was a member of the Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 225 in Upper Sandusky, where he participated with the Upper Sandusky Color Guard Burial Detail.
For hobbies, Jim loved nature and being outside. He also enjoyed working and crafting with leather and enjoyed a good western book or movie. He also enjoyed spending time once a month in Findlay, with his retired friends from law enforcement.
He will be remembered for his work ethic and dedication as a public servant and to the community. He had a love for people, especially his wife, children and grandkids. He will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service Celebrating the Life of James C. Miller, will be held at 11:00am Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. David Clark officiating. Military memorial rites will be conducted at the funeral home following the service by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service time, from 10:00am to 11:00am on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or a local chapter of the Red Cross, and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
