James L. Hooper, age 91, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026. 

Jim was born on July 28, 1935, in Upper Sandusky, to Clarence and Grace (Thiel) Hooper. He married Pamela Kay Darnell on October 19, 1956, at St. Peter’s in Upper Sandusky, and she survives.

He is also survived by his 4 children: Mark (Christy) Hooper of Mt. Gilead, North Carolina, Teresa “Jane” (Ed) James of Bradenton, Florida, Matt (Heather) Hooper of Harpster, and Mike (Holly) Hooper of Upper Sandusky.

Jim is also survived by his 9 grandchildren: Megan Moorer, Mallory Hooper, Patrick Hooper, Scott Stansbery, Danielle Parks, Cade Hooper, Landon Ramos, Ethan Ramos, and Kaleb Hooper, along with 7 great grandchildren, Parker, Tyson, Oakley, CJ, Avery, Lily and his special fishing buddy Carson. and a sister, Rebecca (Cecil) Caskey of Bucyrus.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bryce Bublitz, 2 brothers, David and Daniel Hooper, and a sister Rose Bianchi.

Jim was a 1953 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and went on to retire as a supervisor in the maintenance department at the Wyandot County Highway Department.

He was a member of the Wyandot County Rod and Gun Club, American Legion Post #225, Moose Lodge #1093, and a former member of the Wyandot County Coon Hunters Association.

For hobbies Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid Browns, Indians and OSU Buckeyes fan.

Services for James L. Hooper will be private.
