James Albert Evans

James Albert Evans, age 82, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and Formerly of Central Lake, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the Westbrook Assisted Living and Memory Care in Upper Sandusky.

James was born on February 7, 1944, in Logan, Ohio, to James Lester and Mary Jeanne (Boyd) Evans. He married Nancy Ehret, on June 19, 1971, at the First Presbyterian Church, in Fairborn, Ohio, and she survives in Upper Sandusky.

Jim is also survived by his sister, Mary L. Meier of Lansing, Michigan, sister in law Sylvia Evans of Upper Sandusky, 7 nephews, Glenn (Sue) Mohre, Mike (Marcia) Mohre, Mark (Kim) Mohre, Phil (Heather) Mohre, Ryan (April) Evans, Jeff Evans, and Evan (Andrea) Meier.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother William L. Evans, and sister Jeanne Ann Mohre.

Jim graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1962 and went on to work for the Railroad, primarily as a Clerk Operator, until his retirement in 2001, after 42 years.

Jim was a walking encyclopedia of trains. He was a model train enthusiast, and enjoyed spending time reading about trains, and working on his model train set up in the basement. Jim also enjoyed traveling to Canada to visit friends, and going to Baroque on Beaver, the music festival on Beaver Island. Jim was a kind person who was always eager to help.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, with visitations 1 hour prior to the service.
