Irma Louise (Pfleider) Shearer

Irma Louise (Pfleider) Shearer was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 8, 2024.

She was 81 years old. Irma was born in Richwood, OH on November 2, 1943, to Walter and Ivalou Pfleider. She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Harry Berton Shearer, on November 4, 1961. They were married for 54 years when he was called home in 2016.

Irma is survived by her three beloved daughters, Amy Roe of Bucyrus, Ohio, Pat (Brian) Green of Hilliard, Ohio, and Lori (Verl) Dye of Oregon, Ohio; grandchildren, Katie (Josh) Kirtley, Cameron (Tiffany) Roe, Lucas Dye (Kayla Penrod), Casey (Vosh) Dye, and Matthew Green; and great-grandchildren, Declan Kirtley, Greyson Kirtley, Gwendolyn Kirtley, Evelyn Roe, Graham Roe, Hayden Murray, Carmen Murray, Kyus Dye, Tobias Dye, and Dexter Dye.

She is also survived by sisters, June Long, Betty Bear, Cathy Thomas, sisters-in-law Mary Ann Pfleider and Sandy Leightey; brothers-in-law Dave Lear, Steve Thomas and Loren Schley; and special friends Kenny and Fran Swartz.

Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Rick Roe, sisters, Barb Bryant and Mary Ann Lear; brothers, Bill Pfleider and Bob Pfleider; sisters-in-law Gerry Pfleider, Molly Jean Brinson and Louise Schley; and brothers-in-law Grover Bryant, Dwight Long, Robert Bear, Vernon Brinson, and Howard Leightey Jr.

Irma graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1961 and was the Class Secretary. She was primarily a homemaker, and as her girls were growing up, she provided day care for kids of family and friends. Over the years, she also worked at various places, including Westinghouse, Cunningham's IGA (meat department), Pamida department store, and she especially enjoyed caring for the residents while working at Fairhaven Nursing Home as a CNA.

Irma was a very talented seamstress and made many clothes for herself, her daughters and other family members, including dresses for special occasions. She was also an avid reader. She started every morning reading her Bible and she enjoyed a wide variety of fiction novels. She was gifted with a beautiful voice and she enjoyed singing with Bert as they hosted many "music parties" with family and friends.

Irma was a member of Trinity Evangelical Church.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to all of the wonderful nurses, aids and chaplain at the Hospice of Wyandot Memorial Hospital. Their care and support for the last couple months was extraordinary.

Per her request, the family will have a private graveside service and burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Trinity Evangelical Church or Christian Food Pantry at St Paul Lutheran Church, and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky, Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
