Ida Jane Scheff, age 77, of Nevada, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 11:20pm at the Fairhaven Community-Main Campus, in Upper Sandusky.
Ida was born on April 1, 1931 in Rudolph, Ohio to Fred E. Strausbaugh and Hattie Glenn Iris-Reiter. Both of whom are deceased. She married Wilbur Drake on April 9, 1951 and he passed away on October 17, 1996. She then married Glen Scheff on December 12, 1997 and he survives in Nevada, Ohio.
Also surviving Ida are three daughters: Laurie Drake of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Cindy (Mark) Redmond of Middleburg, PA, and Lynette (Steve) Duvall of Nevada, Ohio, a step daughter: Elaine Sue Brown of Marion, Ohio, a step son: Tom Killian of Springfield, MO, nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and three brothers: Leo (Elita) Strausbaugh of Bowling Green, Ohio, Arnold Strausbaugh of Urbana, Ohio, and George (Marge) Strausbaugh of Bowling Green, Ohio.
Ida was also preceded in death by two daughters: Renee Perry and Mary Whitaker, three brothers: Bill Strausbaugh, Bob Strausbaugh and Leroy Strausbaugh.
Ida graduated from Liberty High School in 1950. She was a homemaker and later worked at Fairhaven Community as a Nursing Assistant where she retired in 1995 after working there for 15 years.
Ida was a member of the Heritage Bible Church in Marion, Ohio. She was a former member of the Nevada Lions Club, Pearl Harbor's Survivors Association, and the National Association for Retired Federal Employees. For hobbies Ida enjoyed sewing, baking and decorating cakes, flower gardening, bird watching, and attending church services.
Funeral services for Ida will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, January 19, 2009 at the Heritage Bible Church in Marion, Ohio. The Rev. Gary Brugger will be officiating the services. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery in Brush Ridge, Ohio.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 19, 2009 from 11:00am - 2:00pm at the Heritage Bible Church in Marion, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Donor's choice in care of Lucas-Batton Funeral Home 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
