Howard A. Leightey, Jr

Howard A. Leightey Jr. age 65, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 5:09am at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital
In Upper Sandusky.

Howard was born on December 1, 1950 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to Howard A. Sr., and Dorothy (Hotelling) Leightey, both of whom are deceased. He married Sandra Shearer on December 7, 1968 at Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky, and she survives.

He is also survived by a son, Jeremy (Lana) Leightey of Upper Sandusky, and a daughter, Kelly (Roy) Woodruff of Upper Sandusky. Along with 9 grandchildren, Tyler Brown, Jarrett Brown, Chad "CJ" Tanner, Breanna Tanner, Ashley Heil, Erica Heil, Ashley Dawn Leightey, Ethan Woodruff, Kaleb Woodruff, and a great granddaughter, Rosemary Heil.

Howard was retired as a tree foreman for Davey Tree Service.

Howard was a member of Trinity Evangelical U.M.CL, an0064 a veteran of the Army having served during Vietnam War. He was a life member of the Amvets #777, and the American Legion Post #225, both of Upper Sandusky.

For hobbies, Howard enjoyed camping at Tee Pee Campgrounds for many years, fishing, working in his shop with wood, and making chimes, bird watching, following the Buckeyes and the Steelers.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor, and his love for family, especially his grandchildren.

Funeral services for Howard Leightey Jr. will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Russell Howard, minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Upper Sandusky, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.

Visitations will be held 2 hours before service time on Thursday, December 10, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
