Helen L. King, age 86, of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 1:40AM at the Sterling House in Marion.

Helen was born on May 7, 1926 in Cumberland, Ohio to William and Beulah (Wilson) Wheeler, both of whom are deceased. She married Richard H. King in December, 1946 and he died May 23, 1975.

Surviving are 2 sons, James W. (Joyce) King of Upper Sandusky and Jeffrey A. (Martha) King of Marion, Ohio, 3 grandchildren, Peter, Jessica and Miranda and 4 great grandchildren also survive along with a brother, Howard Wheeler of Kimbolton, Ohio and a sister Ruth Wolfe of Peoria, Illinois.

Helen was also preceded in death by a brother, James and a sister Mary May.

Helen worked for 27 years in the Food Service Department of the Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky until her retirement. As a frequent cook for the hospital she was well known for her butterscotch pie.

She attended the Upper Sandusky Church of the Nazarene. For hobbies Helen enjoyed baking, berry picking, going to flea markets, and entering baked and canned goods and other items in county fairs, especially the Wyandot County Fair. Between 1975 and 2008 Helen's fair entries won over 2,500 ribbons with many being Best of Show, Best of Display and Best of Class. Her success in local fair competitions led her to judging canned and baked good in several county fairs.

Funeral services for Helen L. King will be private and no public calling hours will be observed.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wyandot Memorial Hospital or the Alzheimer's Foundation and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
