Helen J Jury

Helen J. Jury, age 87, of Upper Sandusky and formerly of Harpster, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 4:05pm at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Upper Sandusky.

Helen was born on April 15, 1936 in Wyandot County, Ohio, to William Franklin and Hattie M. (Smith) Taylor, both of whom are deceased.  She married Donald E. Jury on June 19, 1957 in the Harpster United Methodist Church, and he passed away on October 3, 2009.

She is survived by her daughters, LuAnn (Russell) Lee of Upper Sandusky, and Marlene (Charles Jr.) Jones of Nevada.  4 grandchildren, Melissa (Ryan) Summit, Nicholas (Stefanie) Lee, Holly Jones, and Tony (Emily Moore) Jones, and 2 great grandchildren, Evelyn and James Lee.

Helen was a 1954 graduate of Harpster High School and went on to the Lima Beauty Academy and graduated in 1956.  She owned and operated Helen's Beauty Shop in Harpster for many years, then upon moving to Upper Sandusky, she worked at Shar-Mae Hair Fashions until her retirement.

She was a member of the John Stewart United Methodist Church where she was active in the former Susannah Hope Circle, and helping with the Ladies Lenten Luncheons.  Before moving to Upper Sandusky, she was a member of the Harpster United Methodist Church.

For hobbies Helen enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking, and was an avid golfer having been a longtime member of the former Hickory Grove Golf Club.

Helen enjoyed being a mom, grandma, and a devoted wife and caregiver to her husband Don.

Funeral services for Helen J. Jury will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2023 at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Pastor Betsy Bowen officiating.

Visitations will be held 2 hours before service time on Friday, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
