Helen S. Donnenwirth

Helen S. Donnenwirth, age 91, of Bucyrus, Ohio, died Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 3:15am in Bucyrus, Ohio.

Helen was born on January 22, 1917 in Wyandot County to Archie W. and Faye (McBride) Sheaffer.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Linda (John) Cooper of Sunbury, Ohio and Roberta Donnenwirth of Stewart, Ohio.
Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Jason (Katey) Cooper of Olathe, Kansas and Olivia (Dustin) Martin of Powell, Ohio, along with 5 great grandchildren: Caylee, Timothy and Jewell Cooper, and Jack and Emma Martin.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, William Sheaffer, and a sister, Ruth Smith.

Helen had attended Wyandot, Mt Zion, and graduated from Harpster High School in 1934. She then went on to Bowling Green State University where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Education.

Helen taught elementary education for 35 years starting in Wyandot and Mt. Zion schools, then spending the majority of her teaching career in the Bucyrus School System.

She attended Wyandot Baptist Church and was affiliated with the First Baptist Church in Bucyrus. Helen was also a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Wyandot Garden Club, University Women, and the Family Study Club of Bucyrus.

Helen enjoyed traveling throughout the world, having traveled to China, Australia, Berlin, Kenya and Russia, just to name of few.

Visitations will be held on Thursday from 10:00am to 11:00am on Thursday at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30am, Thursday, September 25, 2008, at the Nevada Cemetery with the Rev. Rorke Warner officiating.
