Harold E. Messmer, age 77, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio died Sunday, May 02, 2010 at 5:40am in the Emergency Room
at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay.
Harold was born on March 8, 1933, in Upper Sandusky, OH to Raymond and Mildred (Jones) Messmer, both of whom are deceased. He married Patty A. Bender on March 4, 1953 in Auburn, IN, and she survives in Upper Sandusky.
Harold is also survived by his sons, Mark (Candy) Messmer of Upper Sandusky and Todd (Michelle) Messmer of Bucyrus , a granddaughter Hannah Messmer and two sisters, Rhea Hoy and Helen Bell, both of Upper Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Charles.
Harold was the owner of Messmer Construction in Upper Sandusky since 1977, in recent years he worked along with his sons in the company. Before 1977 he owned
and operated Wyco Dairy in Upper Sandusky.
Harold was a veteran of the Air Force having served during the Korean War.
He had been attending the Kingdom Hall in Upper Sandusky and for hobbies Harold enjoyed bowling, building and flying model airplanes, doing yard work, following auto racing, and traveling. Harold also enjoyed following the OSU Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns and spending time with his granddaughter Hannah making birdhouses and painting things together.
Visitations will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Memorials contributions may be made to Nationwide Children's Hospital or American Heart Association in care of Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
