H. Russell Taylor, age 92, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 3:20pm at the home of his daughter in Caledonia, Ohio.

Russell was born on May 20, 1923 in Forest, Ohio to Howard and Celestia (Clinger) Taylor, both of whom are deceased.
He married Ruth L. Strub on November 14, 1951 at the Crawford Methodist Church, and she passed away on May 1, 2015.

He is survived by 4 daughters: Jane (Jim ) Williams of Carey, Ohio, Joyce (Jack) Oehlers of Upper Sandusky, Joann (Larry) Gault of Forest, Judy (Jeff) Taylor of Caledonia, and a son, Carl (Stacy) Taylor of Upper Sandusky. 11 grandchildren: Cory Taylor, Brad Taylor, Makaela Taylor, Kolby Taylor, Holly Baldwin, Ashley Webb, Jordan Burns, Heather Button, Amy Pinion, Kelly McCloud, Kylie Cummings. Along with 5 step grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Russell is also survived by 2 brothers, Donald (Helen) Taylor of Upper Sandusky and Junior (Sharon) Taylor of Ridgeway, Ohio and 5 sisters, Jean (Richard) Reinhart of Carey, Margaret Hewett of Upper Sandusky, Phyllis Walter of Upper Sandusky, Carolyn (Eugene) Swinehart of Upper Sandusky and Jeanette (Guy) Tooley of Clyde.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruth, 2 brothers Ray and Paul, and 4 sisters, Gladys Beck, Joan Taylor, Evelyn White and Jane Beidelschies.

Russell worked for over 30 years for Claycraft Brick in Upper Sandusky, and in his younger years he enjoyed farming.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II.

For hobbies, Russell enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, having built his home on N. Warpole St. in Upper Sandusky. He also liked to take care of his yard, gardening and fishing, taking rides in the car, and going to Amish Country.

He will be remembered for his love of family, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services for H. Russell Taylor will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Denny Livingston officiating.
Burial will follow at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens in Marion, where a military graveside
Rites will be conducted.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, 2 hours before service time, from 11:00am to 1:00pm, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
