Rev. Gregory W. Hord, age 48, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 9:11pm at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay, Ohio.

He was born on September 28, 1963 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to Winn A. and Dorcas P. (Fetters) Hord, both of whom are living in Claremore, Oklahoma.
Greg married Kimberly G. Shirel on December 17, 1982 in Claremore and she survives in Upper Sandusky.

Also surviving is a daughter Tiffany N. (Brandon) Hord-Morris of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and a son Paul Hord of Upper Sandusky, along with a grandson Ryder.

Greg is survived by a sister, Carolyn Tompkins of Greenfield, Indiana and 3 brothers, Michael Hord of Houston, Texas, Dale (Mandy) Hord of Greenfield, Indiana and Brian (Shauna) Hord of Florissant, Missouri.

Greg has spent the last 14 years as the pastor for the Apostolic Gospel Church in Upper Sandusky. He had also served as a long term substitute in the Riverdale School System teaching Fifth grade. Before moving to Upper Sandusky, Greg played an integral part in the opening of Walmart Supercenters throughout the United States. Before his work with Walmart, Greg also was responsible for pioneering a church in Oologah, Oklahoma which is still worshiping today.

He graduated in 1981 from Kenton High School and received his ministerial license in 1990 with the United Pentecostal Church International. In June of 2008, Greg received his Bachelors Degree in History from the Ohio State University and he was a class away from earning his Masters Degree with the University of Findlay in Adolescence to Young Adult-Integrated Social Studies.

Greg loved music and was a gifted singer. He enjoyed learning about history of all kinds, loved to be on the cutting edge of electronics and computers, and enjoyed the
hunt for a good bargain.

Greg will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, grandpa, son, and brother and he also loved his church family and was honored to pastor the church that he was taken to soon after his birth at Wyandot Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services for Rev. Gregory W. Hord will be held at 2:00pm Monday, January 30, at the Apostolic Gospel Church in Upper Sandusky with the following pastors officiating, the Rev's Rodney Shirel, Duane Kramer, Richard Collins, Mark Meyer, Leroy Buller and Jonathon Perry. Burial will follow in Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky.

Visitations will be held Sunday at the Apostolic Gospel Church in Upper Sandusky from 2:00pm to 8:00pm and 1 hour before service time on Monday at the Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Gospel Church and may be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
