Gregory D. Collins

November 5, 1960 — May 10, 2025

Upper Sandusky

Gregory D. Collins, age 64, of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Upper Sandusky, after a lengthy battle with Huntington's Disease. Huntington's Disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that leads to devastating mental, emotional, and physical decline. It starts with a single mutation in the HTT gene — but the result is the slow breakdown of movement, mood, and memory. HD affects entire families, and right now, there is no cure. But with deeper understanding of the brain, they're getting closer to breakthroughs.

Greg was born on November 5,1960, in Kenton, Ohio, to Ronal and Rita (Rager) Collins, both of whom are deceased.   He was once married to Beth Menningen, and she survives, along with his children: Courtney (Alex) Thiel of Upper Sandusky, Kelsey (Levi) Bash of Carey, and Cody (Makenna) Collins of Upper Sandusky,  along with 3 grandchildren, Tommy and Simon Thiel, and Leo Collins, and 2 sisters, Victoria Shepherd, and Deborah Downey, both of Upper Sandusky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Scot Collins.

Greg graduated in 1979 from Upper Sandusky High School, and went on to work for Guardian Industries, and then for Honda in Marysville, where he spent over 29 years.

He was an avid sport enthusiast, where he followed the Cleveland Browns and Guardians, and also the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Funeral Services for Gregory D. Collins will be private with burial at Chandler Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Central Ohio Chapter of the Huntington's Disease Society of America, and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
