Gertrude D. Stubbs, age 98, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 10:05am at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.
Gertie was born on November 25, 1910 in Norwalk, Ohio to Fred and Emma (Minich) Ballwig. She married Don D. Stubbs on April 21, 1937 in Norwalk and he died March 26, 1993.
Surviving is a daughter Judy and her husband Bill Horobec of Tampa, Florida. Two grandsons, Mark McCord of St. Louis, MO. and Michael (Jenny) McCord of Dade City Florida along with 4 great grandchildren Samatha & Sarah McCord, Samuel McCord and Joshua Talluto.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, Eva Rouzer.
Gertrude was a homemaker and also the business manager for Stubbs Bros. Inc. Auto Dealership and Garage in Upper Sandusky for many years.
She was a member Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky where she served as a Eucharist Minister, Lay Reader and served on Parish Council. She was a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia and was active with RCIA with the church. She was a Cabinet Member of the Society of Stephan with United Church Homes and also was the Upper Sandusky Citizen of the Year in 1996.
Gertie was known as one who had a "servants heart", who ministered in many areas of
the church and also at Fairhaven, by visiting, feeding and reading with residents and also starting the transportation and uniform endowment fund.

Funeral Services for Gertrude D. Stubbs will be held 3:00pm Sunday, May 17, at the Chapel at Fairhaven in Upper Sandusky with Father Robert Dendinger officiating.
Visitations will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 from 3pm - 5pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky and also be one hour of visitation before the funeral service on Sunday at Fairhaven.
A graveside service will be held at 9:00am Monday, May 18, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Sycamore, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, Fairhaven Community, or Transfiguration of the Lord Church and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
