Germaine T. Bland

Germaine T. Bland, age 93, of rural Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away at her home on Saturday, June 14, 2014.

She was born on January 6, 1921 in Seneca County, Ohio, to Leo and Mary (Elchert) Trausch. Her father died when she was 12, so she was also raised by her stepfather, John Adams.

She married Jack Barth on August 10, 2946 at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Frenchtown, who preceded her in death on June 21, 1954. She later married Arthur Bland at Our Lady of Consolation Rectory on October 22, 1960 and he passed away on June 26, 2009.

She is survived by her son, Robert E. (Linda) Trausch of McCutchenville, Ohio, and 4 grandchildren, Karen Crabtree, Kevin Trausch, Jason (Jane) Trausch and Kim Trausch, along with a step grandchild, Pam (Jeff) Griffin. There are also 10 great grandchildren, a step great grandchild and several great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a great grandchild, and her siblings, Wilma(Leo) Schalk, Rufus, Eugene(Anna), Oscar, Hilda(David) Tiell, Carl, Cletus (Mary Belle), Gilbert (Martha), Gerald H. (Rebecca), Leo, Marie Trausch and Mildred (John H.) Ohler.

Germaine was a homemaker and also had worked outside the home for a number of years at Sieberling Rubber.

She was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in Carey, Ohio, along with the Rosary Altar Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia.

For hobbies she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, bowling in her younger years, and was a wonderful cook.

Funeral services for Germaine T. Bland will be held at 11:00am Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitations will be on Thursday, from 9:00am to 11:00am at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
