Georgene E. "Jean" Leathem

Georgene E. "Jean" Leathem, age 80, of Bucyrus, Ohio passed away on Friday, January 28, 2011 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.


She was born on December 12, 1930 to Samuel Bruce and Alfreda Knipp, both of whom are deceased. She married Clarence Leathem on July 31, 1950 and he died February 8, 1995. Jean also was preceded in death by a special friend Ron Reeder.

Jean is survived by her children, Linda Wilkes of Richmond, Virginia; Ronald Leathem of Piqua, Ohio; Donna (Ray) England of Nevada, Ohio; Marianne Miller of Ocala, Florida. Along with 8 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren, a half sister Donna (Roger) Welsh of Bucyrus and 2 half brothers, Chuck (Mary Jo) Oberlander of Caledonia and James (Susan) Oberlander of Bucyrus.

Jean was a homemaker and also owned and operated Jean's Ceramics in Bucyrus in the 70's. For hobbies she enjoyed playing bingo and cards, doing latch hook rugs and she was a collector of a variety of knick knacks and she loved country music and enjoyed going to concerts.

It was Jean's wish to be cremated and services held by the family will be private.
