George D. Abbott, age 66, of rural Nevada, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on
Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 8:10AM in the Bucyrus Community Hospital in Bucyrus.
George was born on May 22, 1946 in LaRue, Ohio to George A. and Edna (Armstrong) Abbott. His father is deceased and his mother is living in rural Nevada. He married Cathy Clapp on March 17, 1968 in Delphos, Ohio and she survives.
Also surviving are 2 children, Robert (Tammy) Abbott of Nevada and Beckie (Jim) Shuck of Upper Sandusky along with 5 grandchildren, Ellie Abbott, Levi Abbott, Mary Shuck, Cassie Shuck and Natalie Shuck.
Also surviving are 3 sisters, Mary Paynter of Florida, Audrey (Ron) Ault of Galion and Velma Potts of Nevada and an "adopted" sons, Paul England and Billie Beltz who spent a lot of time at the family home growing up.
He was preceded in death by his father and 2 brothers Roger and Bill Abbott.
George was the founder and owner of Abbott's Auctions in Nevada that he ran along with his son Rob for many years. He also had worked for the former Eaton Axle Corporation in Marion retiring in 2008.
He was a member of the Nevada United Methodist Church and also the Nevada Masonic Lodge #343. For hobbies George enjoyed being outside, whether hunting or fishing or just working in the yard or garden, he constantly kept himself busy always being on the move doing something.
He will be remembered by his love for his wife, children, grandchildren, his mother and siblings, whom he cherished, along with his appreciation and fondness for all his friends in this community who made his life complete. George never knew a stranger and touched many he came in contact with during his journey here on earth.
Funeral services for George D. Abbott will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, July 27, at the Nevada United Methodist Church with the Rev's Matt Garrabrant, Brian Spangler, Carl Angel and Rex King officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
Visitations will be from 2:00PM to 8:00PM on Thursday, July 26, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with a Masonic Memorial service at 8:00pm and 1 hour of calling hours before service time at the church on Friday.
