Genevieve "Jean" B. Rowse

Genevieve "Jean" B. Rowse, age 95, of Upper Sandusky Ohio and formerly of the Harpster and Little Sandusky area, passed
away on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Fairhaven Retirement and Healthcare Community in Upper Sandusky.

Jean was born on August 27, 1914 in Little Sandusky, Ohio to Alva and Myna (Mouser) Wiest. She married Paul E. Rowse on December 12, 1947 and he died on May 14, 2006.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Ann (Henry) Bils of rural Harpster and Margaret (Richard) Evert of Tucson, Arizona. 8 grandchildren, Bryan (Shari) Beard, Amy (Bryan) Tucker, Laura (Todd) Lesher, Eric Newman, Laura (Craig) Troxel, Susan (Kelly) Best, Vaughn (Alex) Magdics and Heather Evert along with 11 great grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great grandson Hunter Troxel, a sister Mozelle (Richard) Boyd.

Jean was a graduate of the former Harpster High School. She drove school bus for many years and also along with the late
Alice Fowler, started the Harpster School lunch program where she
was the head cook for several years.

She was a longtime member of the Harpster United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Women's Organization and also teaching Sunday School. She was a member of the Harpster Mothers Club and of the Usando Literary Club, along with the
Eastern Star, 4-H and a former Girl Scout Leader. Jean would
volunteer wherever there was a need.

She was an accomplished seamstress and besides sewing for her family, created her own designs and made everything from drapes, slip covers to wedding gowns. She loved to do needlework and handmade many quilts.

Funeral Services for Genevieve "Jean" Rowse will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, May 29 at the Harpster United Methodist Church in Harpster. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery in Brush Ridge.

Visitations for Jean will be Friday, May 28, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky
and 1 hour of visitation before service time at the church on Saturday.
