Gayle Jean Gillespie

Gayle J. Gillespie, age 69, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on

Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 2:40am at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

Gayle was born on February 3, 1947 in Wharton, Ohio, to Harold F. and Mildred (Bostater) Southward, both of whom are deceased.   She married Mike Gillespie on September 24, 1965 in Long Island, New York, and he survives.

She is survived by 3 sons: Mark Gillespie of Upper Sandusky, Jason (Rachel) Gillespie of Sycamore, and Scott (Cindy) Gillespie of Cincinnati, granddaughters Emily (Cory), Tiffany, Crystal and Jewel, along with 2 great grandchildren Chloe and Lincoln.

Gayle is also survived by 2 sisters, Beverly (Gary) Opper, and Tina (Fred) Balduf, both of Wharton.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Jeff and Gerald Southward, and 2 sisters, Barbara Mitchell and Linda Southward.

Gayle was a homemaker and also worked as a dietician for the Wyandot County Nursing Home for 11 years.

For hobbies she enjoyed crocheting, cooking, fishing, along with spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Visitations will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday and will be private, with the Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating.
