Fredrick Stansbery Jr

Fredrick Stansbery, Jr., age 85, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, March 05, 2015 at 7:55am at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.

Born September 14, 1929 in Wyandot County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Fedrick and Mabel (Culver) Stansbery, Sr. He married Katherine R. Walter on September 4, 1948 and she survives in Upper Sandusky.

He is survived by five children: Linda K. (Kenneth) Edler of Aubur ndale, FL, Robert E. (Jane) Stansbery of Claremont, NH, Gary L. (Pam) Stansbery of Nevada, Karen S. (Karl) Powell of Upper Sandusky, and Brian T. (Jen Starkey) of Carey, 21 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, a sister, Roberta J. Snowden of Upper Sandusky, and three brothers: James L. and Dale L. Stansbery both of Upper Sandusky and Dennis D. Stansbery of Little Sandusky. He was preceded in death by three grandchildren and 2 brothers: Floyd and Richard Stansbery.

Fredrick retired from the Wyandot County highway Department for 30 plus years where he retired as superintendent. He took great pride running the crane. He also worked as a guard and retired from the Marion Correctional Institute.

An avid softball fan, he coached girls softball in Upper Sandusky and many co-ed teams, including a State qualifier. In 1999 he was honored for his many years of dedication to the Upper Sandusky Girls Softball league by having the field named after him, The Fredrick Stansbery, Jr. Field.

He was a former member of the Eagles Aerie 2184. He was a huge fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren compete in various sports.

Family and friends will be received from 2 - 6pm on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the funeral home, with Rev. James Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow at Little Sandusky Cemetery in Little Sandusky.
