F. Ned Winter

Franklin Ned Winter, beloved husband, grandfather, age 80, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 4:35pm at his home in Upper Sandusky.

Ned was born on December 7, 1934 in Upper Sandusky, to Ralph E. and Dorcas E. (Gardner) Winter. He married Wilma D. Lambert on June 12, 1960 in Mount Vernon, Ohio,
and she survives.

He is also survived by 4 sons, Franklin E. Winter, of Brook Park, Ohio, Randall T. (Kathy) Winter, of Circleville, Ohio, Daryn K. (Sandra) Winter, of Marion, Ohio, and Micah N. (Maika) Winter of Scottsdale, Arizona. Along with 9 grandchildren, Joseph, Franklin M., Elizabeth, Monica, Peter, Melanie, Lilia, Anna, and Michael.

Ned was a 1952 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and went on to Ohio University to graduate in 1957 with a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering.

He went on to work as an Industrial Engineer, with The Timken Company in Bucyrus, retiring in 1992, after 35 years.

Ned was a life long member of Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky. He was very active in the church throughout the years, serving on almost every committee, teaching high school Sunday School, and the Progressive Sunday School for many years. He was also instrumental in starting the contemporary service on Sunday morning.

He was a member of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers, and a former 4H club advisor.

For hobbies, Ned enjoyed many activities with his family, including amateur radio, woodworking, building and flying his model airplanes, water sking , motorcycle riding, snowmobiling, camping, archery and photography. He was also a private pilot, and liked flying his airplane.

Funeral services for F. Ned Winter will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Trinity Evangelical U.M.C. in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow Old Mission Cemetery.

Visitations will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8 on Tuesday, at the Lucas-Batton in Upper Sandusky and 1 hour before services at the church on Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Building Fund, or Bridge Hospice and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
