Evelyn J. Shearer

Evelyn J. Shearer, age 76, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Bucyrus Community Hospital in Bucyrus, Ohio.

Evelyn was born on January 13, 1938 in West Union, Ohio, to George Dewey and Lucille (Scott) Preston, Sr., both of whom are deceased. She was once married to Gus Brewer, Harvey Shoemaker and Ujah Hensel, all of whom are deceased. She then married Clinton "Bud" Shearer on June 10, 1995 and he survives in Upper Sandusky.

She is survived by 5 children; William (Valerie) Brewer of Upper Sandusky, Carol (Layton) Sweitzer of Nevada, Ohio, Brenda Huggins of Upper Sandusky, Debi Shoemaker of Kenton, Ohio, and Richie Shoemaker of Upper Sandusky. 14 grandchildren, Billy Joseph Brewer, Crystal (Pat) Randall, Jessica (Cliff) Constien, Zach Morris, Chad (Sandy) Sweitzer, Todd (Laura) Sweitzer, Doug Pollock, Chasity Shoemaker, Wesley Shoemaker, Shaley Clements, Luke (Karson) Shoemaker, Ivy Shoemaker, Coy Shoemaker, Mazzy Shoemaker. Along with 21 great grandchildren.

Evelyn has a brother Gary (Pat) Preston, and a sister Wanda Osman, both of West Union.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a grandchild, Lainey Shoemaker, 3 brothers, George D. Preston Jr., Jim Deloss Preston, and a brother in infancy and a sister Barbara Ann Blye.

Evelyn retired from the former U-Brand Corporation in Upper Sandusky after 22 years.

Evelyn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Upper Sandusky, where she helped with the nursery and vacation bible school. She and her husband Clinton, where part of a gospel singing group, along with Becky Ward, Joann Taylor and Lori Frost, called Calvary Road, and over the years sang throughout Ohio.

For hobbies, she enjoyed crocheting, and keeping her house neat and tidy, with everything having its place.

She will be remembered for her work ethic and more importantly, for her love for her Savior, and family.

Funeral services for Evelyn J. Shearer will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Gary Stumbo officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky.

Visitations will be held on Monday, June 9, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
