Evelyn C. Schwartzkopf

Evelyn C. Schwartzkopf, age 86, of Nevada passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at 5:29am in the Fairview Manor in Bucyrus, Ohio.

She was born on January 3, 1922 in Allen County, Ohio and was the daughter of Daniel and Sarah Stemen, both of whom are deceased.

She graduated from Nevada High School in 1939 and went on to marry Clifford "Ray" Schwartzkopf on July 2, 1940 and he died on June 4, 2008.

Surviving are 2 daughters; Karen S. Peppard of Bucyrus and Marsha R. (Thomas) Gathright of Bucyrus.

She is also survived by 3 grandchildren: Leeannn Grau and her fiance Jeremy Ray, Matthew(Vicki) Peppard, Karen (Daniel) Benedum; 2 step grandchildren: Jodi(Gary) Hughes, Amy Reaume; 6 great grandchildren: Jesseca (Ryan) Tomlin, Austin Peppard, Rachel Benedum, Alex Peppard, Dylan Benedum and Harlee Peppard; 6 Step great grandchildren: Amy (Chad) Underhill, Eli Geyer, Brenden Hughes, Kian Hughes, Taryn Gathright and Jace Reaume; 1 great great grandson: Wyatt Tomlin and 1 step great great grandson, Parker Underhill. Also surviving is her sister in law, Jo Stemen of Elida, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by 1 grandson Todd Peppard and 4 sisters: Jessie, Thelma Freda and Opal and 2 brothers in Everett, who was her twin brother, and Robert "Bunt" Stemen.

Evelyn retired from the Timken Company in Bucyrus, after 30 years. Before that she had worked at Westinghouse in Upper Sandusky and Swan Hose in Bucyrus.

She was active in her earlier years with the Nevada Methodist Church and the Nevada Chapter #243 Order of the Eastern Star. She also served as a troop leader of the Brownies in Nevada for many years and was a member of the former Progressive Mothers Club. For hobbies Evelyn enjoyed sewing, crocheting, flower gardening and baking and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grand and great great grandchildren. She and her husband Ray enjoyed spending their winters in Florida.
