Eugene Plott
Addison Eugene Plott, age 88, of rural Harpster, Ohio, passed away
On Saturday, January, 9, 2016 at 7:53am at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.
Gene was born on February 2, 1927 in Mifflin Twp., Wyandot County, Ohio, to Herschel A. and Ella Mae Belle (Gutermuth) Plott, both of whom are deceased. He married Nancy J. McBride on January 11, 1953 at the Wyandot Baptist Church, and she passed away on May 11, 2002.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Nancy Kay (Don) Collins of rural Harpster, and Gisele (Shaun Hinton) Rieser of Columbus. 5 grandchildren, Chad (Ronda Morris) Stoneburner, Clayton (Shaunessa) Collins, Laura (Karl) Wines, Wayne (Emily) Rieser and Alaina Rieser, and 6 great grandchildren, Justin and Addison Stoneburner, Quinten, Gavin and Jackson Collins, Nicholas Wines. Along with 2 great great grandchildren, Bryson and Carter.
Gene is also survived by a brother, Harold (Marilyn) Plott, and a sister, Vera Stansbery, both of Upper Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Charlotte Stoneburner, and a brother Allen Plott.
Gene worked for many years for Sammett Trucking in Upper Sandusky, retiring in 1988. He attended Mifflin School and graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1945, and went on to serve his country in the US Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky. The BPOE #83, where he was a life member, American Legion Post 225, Wyandot County Rod & Gun Club, all in Upper Sandusky. And Pioneer Auto Club.
For hobbies Gene enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and old cars, especially his favorite, the Model A. He also enjoyed visiting with friends, and family and spending time with his grandchildren.
A memorial service for Eugene Plott will be held at 11:00am Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Burial will take place after the service at Wharton, Richland, Union Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.
Visitations will be Wednesday, January 13, from 5pm to 8pm at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Scholarship Fund or to First Lutheran Church.
