Emma J. "Emmy" Lumberson, age 78, of McKinney, Texas and formerly of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, died on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 6:15am in the McKinney Healthcare Center in McKinney, Texas.
Emma was born on June 30, 1931 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to John and Martha (Rhoden) Oney, both of whom are deceased. She married Calvin G. "Lum" Lumberson on February 6, 1948 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio and he passed away on October 10, 2005.
Surviving Emma is a son, Kevin, and his wife Donna, Lumberson of McKinney, Texas. 2 grandchildren, Jason (Sara) Rains and Lindsey Shows, both of McKinney, a great granddaughter, Emma Kate Rains, and two sisters Ruth (Paul) Thiel of Upper Sandusky, Ohio and Minnie Allen of Clarksville, Arkansas. She is also survived by a daughter in law, Leann Lumberson of Safety Harbor, Florida.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a son, Larry Lumberson, 2 sisters, Edith Fields and Dorothy Pfeifer and 2 brothers, Dwight and Jack Oney.
Emma retired from Wyandot Memorial Hospital in 1999 and before that she had worked as the office manager for Dr. Zohoury in Upper Sandusky for many years.
Emma was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Upper Sandusky, where she taught an adult class on Wednesday nights at the church and was active in the Women's Jail Ministry. When Emma and her husband, retired to Florida they were also members of the Avon Park Church of the Nazarene in Avon Park, Florida,
For hobbies Emma loved to cook, crochet, and she loved to show "God's Love"
to others.
Funeral services for Emma J. Lumberson will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the Church of the Nazarene in Upper Sandusky with Rev. Ben
Gregory officiating. Burial will follow the service in Little Sandusky Cemetery.
Visitations will be on Friday, January 1, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky at 1 hour prior to service time on Saturday at the church.
