Emily J. Swihart

Emily J. Swihart, age 93, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Upper Sandusky.

Emily was born on April 28, 1930, in Nevada, Ohio to Edward Keith and Margo (King) Caldwell, both of whom are deceased. She married Eugene Swihart on January 1, 1949 and he passed away on March 30, 2007.

She is survived by her son, Kim Swihart of Upper Sandusky, and a daughter, Debra "Debbie" Swihart of Findlay. 2 grandchildren, Brandon (Felicia) Swihart of McCutchenville, and Emma Swihart of Delaware, and a great granddaughter, Adison Swihart, and former daughter in law, Marsha Swihart of Upper Sandusky, along with many nieces and nephews.

Emily was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daughter, Diane Swihart, a granddaughter Melanie Swihart,  and 2 half-brothers, Gary and Ted Caldwell.

She was a homemaker and had worked for many years for Westinghouse-AO Smith in Upper Sandusky, retiring from there in 1995.

Emily was a member of the former North Salem Lutheran Church and now St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she was active and took part with their quilting ministry.

For hobbies she enjoyed gardening, watching and feeding the birds, especially hummingbirds, and watching and tending to her fish pond at her home.

Emily will be remembered for gentle, kind and loving spirit especially for her family, of whom she loved to spend her time with through the years.

Funeral services for Emily J. Swihart will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Halter officiating. Burial will follow at Little Sandusky Cemetery.

Visitations will be held 2 hours before service time, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, on Wednesday at the funeral home.
