Elizabeth Mae Hughes, age 97 of Upper Sandusky, Ohio died
Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 7:35am at Wyandot County Skilled
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Upper Sandusky.

She was born on May 17, 1911 in Carlock, Illinois to George D. and Amy Priscilla (Riech) Arnold, both of whom are deceased.
She married Lemness E. Hughes on April 29, 1929 in Upper Sandusky and he died February 16, 1980.

Surviving is a daughter Lois Warner of LaRue, Ohio. 2 sons: Dale and his wife Mary, Hughes of LaRue and Vern and his wife Peg, Hughes of West Chester, PA. 6 Grandchildren: Larry(Ann)Warner, Warren Warner, Terri(Don) Wolf, Jennifer(Michael) Bowker, Tara Hughes and Sean (Caroline)Hughes. 4 Step grandchildren: Dixie(Bill) Akers, Rick(Becky) Dean, Dale A. Dean, Vicki (Gene) Elkins. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren and 14 stepgreat grandchildren. Along with a brother, George Arnold Jr of Orlando, Florida and 2 sisters: Dorothy Brady of Bowling Green, OH and Jean Blackford of Raleigh, NC.

Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by a sister, Dora Strine and 3 brothers, Lawrence, Harold and Wayne Arnold, and a step grandson, Howard Dean.

Mae was a homemaker and a member of the Wyandot County Senior Citizens. For hobbies she enjoyed sewing, reading and cooking and baking.


Funeral services for Elizabeth Mae Hughes will be held at 11:00am Saturday at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. The Rev. Edward Fugate will be officiating. Burial will be in Chandler Cemetery.

Visitations will be held of Friday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wyandot County or The Donor's choice and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
