Douglas D. Bardon, age 66, of rural Nevada, Ohio, passed away on
Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 1:10pm at Riverside
Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Doug was born on August 29, 1947 in Bucyrus, Ohio to Donald J and Maxine J. (Starner) Bardon, both of whom are deceased. He married Kathy "Kate" Titley on July 20, 1974 in Bucyrus, and she survives.
He is also survived by a son, Joe (Patti) Bardon of Nevada, and a daughter, Sandy Bardon of Upper Sandusky. Along with 2 grandchildren Peyton and Kaitlyn Bardon of Nevada.
Also surviving is a brother, Neil (Ann) Bardon of Bexley, Ohio, and a sister, Becky Bellamy of Mansfield and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert, who died in infancy.
Doug was a 1965 graduate of Wynford High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He retired after 44 years as a tool and die maker with Whirpool Corp. in Marion.
Doug was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bucyrus, the Nevada American Legion Post 462, Bucyrus VFW Post 8999, Bucyrus Moose Lodge 669 and Marion Moose Lodge 889. He also was a retired captain with the Wyandot East Fire Department in Nevada after many years of volunteer service.
He was also a member of the NRA and the Experimental Aviation Association.
Doug enjoyed gardening, fishing and boating, hunting, especially with his muzzle loader, bowling and playing Santa Claus at Christmas time.
He especially loved his wife and children, and enjoyed his time that he spent with his grandchildren, Peyton and Kaitlyn.
Funeral services for Douglas D. Bardon will be held at 11:00am Monday, November 11, 2013 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada, with the Pastor John Cory officiating. Burial will follow at Nevada Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, November 10, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada.
