Dorothy E. Starner, age 86, of Harpster, Ohio passed away on January 2, 2011 at her home in Harpster.
Dorothy was born on July 22, 1924 in Harpster to Gale and Ruth (Culver) Bridge, both of whom are deceased. She married R. Lee Starner on June 20, 1946 and he died on September 24, 1985.
Dorothy is survived by 3 daughters, Carol (Jim Sr.) Robertson of Harpster, Jody (Terry) Larick of Harpster and Jean (Walt) Smith of Upper Sandusky. grandchildren, James and Denise Robertson Jr., Nathan and Michelle Robertson, Joy and David Dempsey, Anne Herr and Darryl Dixon, Rebecca Herr, Jordan Ratliff, Sarah Larick and Levi Blankenship, and Rob and Holly Starner and 8 great grandchildren, Shileigh Robertson, Dylan Robertson, Cassidy Robertson, MaKinna Hill, Brayden Hill, Jacob Dempsey, Jarred Larick, Caitlyn Lee, Devin Dixon, and Dajuan Dixon.
She is also survived by three sisters, Mary Kathryn Bower of Harpster, Bonnie Veach of Wahoo, Nebraska and Millie Frey of Sycamore.
Dorothy was preceded in death by a son Jack Starner and a grandson Adam Starner.
Dorothy was a homemaker and worked as a teacher's aide for many years at the Harpster Elementary School in Harpster. She was a member since 1946 of the Variety Club and a member of the Pitt Township Fire Department Ladies Auxillary in Harpster. She was a graduate of Harpster High School in 1942 and attended the Marion Business College and she also attended the Harpster United Methodist Church.
For hobbies Dorothy enjoyed traveling and camping, dancing, sewing, having just presenting the grandkids with blankets she made for them for Christmas, making sock monkeys and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Funeral services for Dorothy E. Starner will be held at 11:00am Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Burial will follow services at Little Sandusky Cemetery.
Visitations will be on Wednesday, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm and 1 hour before service time at the funeral home on Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harpster Senior Citizens and the Pitt Twp. Fire Deptmart and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
