Donald W. Tolle

Donald William Tolle Sr., age 89, of Marion, Ohio, passed away peacefully at 1:35 AM on Monday, January 1, 2024, at the residence of his daughter in Marion.

Don was born on September 17, 1934, in Vanceburg, Kentucky, to Leslie E. and Olie Viola (Yates) Tolle. He was married to Edris Maude Zwolle on February 23, 1952, and she preceded him in death on November 19, 1994.

Don is survived by 4 children: Tena (David) Myers of Marion, Jeff (Nancy) Tolle of Fairborn, Ron Tolle of Marion, and Lisa King of Marion, 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild with another on the way in March. Don is also survived by his sister in law Ruth Davis, and his lifelong friends Bud Mounts and Betty Hornbeck.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Donald "Donnie" (Diane) Tolle Jr., and 4 siblings; Dorothy Crabtree, Bertha Jones, Betty Teets, and Herb Tolle.

Don worked for Columbia Gas as a Regulator Serviceman until the summer of 1995 when he retired after 43 years. During his retirement, Don became a snowbird and spent many winters in Panacea, Florida with his friend Norman.

Don was an outdoorsman who loved wildlife and spending time in nature. Whether that was spending time gardening around his house, taking his pontoon boat to Alum Creek with his friend Bud to go fishing, going on hunting trips to Canada and southern Ohio, camping, or simply picking up some McDonalds with a friend and going to the park to watch the birds while they ate. Don especially loved spending time with his friends and family where he enjoyed playing poker and euchre.

A special thanks to the staff of Tranquility Hospice and especially Sherri, for their kind and compassionate care of Don for the past few months.

A graveside service for Donald W. Tolle will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Caledonia Cemetery, and will be officiated by Pastor Floyd Radabaugh.
