Denver Douglas Adkins

Denver Douglas Adkins, age 79, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away surrounded by his family, on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 11:00am at his home in Upper Sandusky.

Denver was born on May 26, 1936 in Coburn, Virginia, to Hubert and Nancy J. (Dotson) Adkins, both of whom are deceased. He married Shirley G. (Mullins) Jacobs on July 12, 1960 in Wise, Virginia, and she survives.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Sharon E. (Joseph) Fleck of Findlay, and Kathy A. Whitaker of Ft. Myers, Florida. 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren also survive, along with 2 brothers, Arthur Adkins of Coburn, Virginia and Roy "Tommy" Adkins of Abington, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, and a sister.

Denver retired as a truck driver from Yellow Freight Trucking, retiring in 1999.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

For hobbies, Denver enjoyed coon hunting and fishing.

Funeral services for Denver D. Adkins will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, September 30, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Jason Manns officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.

Visitations will be held on Tuesday, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
