Debora L. Hines

July 2, 1951 — April 15, 2026

Upper Sandusky

Debora L. Hines, age 74, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and The Woodlands, TX began her celebration with Jesus on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at MD Anderson in Houston, TX, surrounded by close family and worship music.

Debb was born on July 2, 1951, in Lima, Ohio to Dick and Jerry Hasting. She was a 1969 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, where she was a cheerleader and known for her spirited personality. She later graduated from Lima Technical Center in 1971. Debb also loved singing and being involved in theater, talents she carried with her throughout her life and used to bring joy to those around her.

She married her high school sweetheart, Dave Hines, on October 21, 1972, and together they shared nearly 49 wonderful years of marriage before his passing.

Debb is survived by her two daughters, Deana (Doug) Hicks, Magnolia, TX and Laura (Brian) McMeans, The Woodlands, TX; two granddaughters, Ellen and Alexis McMeans; and sisters Sandy (Bernie) Niederkohr and Linda (Jim) Thomas. Sandy, Bernie, and Linda survive.

Debb devoted her career to nursing and her love of Jesus was central to her life. Throughout her live she served others with compassion, patience, and lived out her faith in word and deed. Debb was deeply involved in missions with Trinity Evangelical Church, where she directed theatre productions, led women’s small groups, organized community Thanksgiving meals, and participated in mission trips Mexico, Haiti, and Honduras in addition to trips within the US. She served as a nurse for church youth summer camps and, alongside Dave, was active in the Emmaus and Chrysalis communities in Findlay. After retirement, Debb especially enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling with her family, cherishing the time exploring new places and being together.

We will always remember Debb for her steadfast faith, desire to make people smile, and deep devotion to her family. She will be missed for her heart of prayer, creativity, and the encouragement that she gave so freely.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on June 27, 2026 at Trinity Evangelical Church with a meal and fellowship to follow.

Memorials may be made to Open Door Resource Center in Upper Sandusky, No One Fights Alone in Sycamore, or Not By Choice in Kenton, and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
