David "Hook Shot" Miller, age 88, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Upper Sandusky.
David was born on September 22, 1936 at the family farm in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to Clarence H. and Harriet (Honsberger) Miller-Martig. He married Jo Gregg on April 15, 1961 in the Sycamore United Church of Christ, and she survives.
He is also survived by his children: Annette G.M. Feasel of Marana, Arizona, Brett A. Miller of Norco, California, and Gregg D. (Sarah) Miller of Buena Park, California. Three grandchildren, Kendall (Sara) Graham, Kaycee C. (Tyler) Carroll, and Kylie Daraphonhdeth, and a great grandchild, Khalyla Carroll.
David is also survived by a sister, RoseMarie Amos of Upper Sandusky, and a brother, Allen Martig of Winnsboro, South Carolina.
He was a 1955 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, where he participated in football, basketball, baseball and track. David also served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 6 years.
David was retired, and had worked through the years for many local businesses, from Kuenzli Quarry, Sammit Trucking, the Sycamore Post Office, Frito Lay, Sears, B&M Carpet which he owned and operated, Fairhaven, and Waste Management.
He was a life member of the First Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky, and the BPOE #83. He loved to play golf, both at Lincoln Hills and Stone Crossing, and also enjoyed bowling with many high scores including a most impressive 299.
David enjoyed listening to a wide variety of musical artists and groups. He also enjoyed working in his shop at home, whether it was woodworking or fixing items around the house.
Funeral Services for David Miller will be held 1:00 pm Monday, November 25, 2024 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Ken Wessler officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.
Public visitation will be held 2 hours before the service time on Monday, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home.
The family requests that all those in attendance for David's visitation and or service be in casual attire.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cardiology Department of Wyandot Memorial Hospital, or the Heart and Vascular Center at OSU Hospital , or the donor's choice. Memorials may be sent to Lucas Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
