David Eugene Reed

March 22, 1946 — May 23, 2017

David Eugene Reed, age 71, of Sycamore, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, May 23rd in Chillicothe, Ohio.

David was born on March 22, 1946 in Bucyrus, Ohio to Charles R. Reed and Grace Klinger Reed.  He married Donna J. Rose on March 7, 1970 and she survives.

He is survived by two daughters: Rebecca Reed of Plain City, Ohio and Esther (Mike) Gifford of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, two sons: Mark Reed of New Riegel, Ohio and Philip Reed of Melmore, Ohio.  David is also survived by 4 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  One sister, Irene Fryman of Plain City, Ohio and two brothers, Danny Reed of Melmore, Ohio and Norman Reed of Morehead, Kentucky also survive.

David was a 1964 graduate of Wynford High School and following graduation had worked at Excel and Wire Cable Company and at Ameriwood. He was a member of the Apostolic Gospel Church in Upper Sandusky, Ohio for 68 years, where he served as an Elder, a Trustee, helped with Sunday School and as a youth leader.  David also served as a Boy Scout leader for many years. He loved gardening and animals, raising chickens, ducks, geese and rabbits.  David served on Wyandot County Junior Fairboard and was a member of the American Rabbit Club for many years. Most important to him was his family.

Funeral services for David Reed will be held at 2:00pm on

Wednesday, May 31st  at the Apostolic Gospel Church 221 N. 5th St. Upper Sandusky, Ohio

with Pastor Rodney Donohoo and Rev. Larry Wagner officiating. Burial will follow the service in Nevada Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5pm to 8pm on Tuesday, May 30th at

the Apostolic Gospel Church and for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the David Reed Memorial Fund and may be

sent to Lucas Batton Funeral Home 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
