David M. Hines

June 20, 1949 — December 9, 2021

Upper Sandusky

David M. Hines, age 72, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, began his celebration with Jesus on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 1:01am at the Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.

Dave started his life on June 20, 1949 in Tiffin, Ohio.  His parents Carl and Loloma (McDannel) Hines are deceased.  He married Debb Hasting on October 21, 1972 and they shared 49 wonderful years together.

They have 2 daughters, Deana Hines, and Laura (Brian) McMeans, both of The Woodlands, Texas, 2 granddaughters, Ellen and Alexis McMeans, along with a brother, Dennie (Ann) Hines of Ney, Ohio, and a sister, Judy (Steve) Reiser of El Dorado, California.  They all survive.

Dave was a 1967 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and went on to graduate from Tri-State University with an engineering degree. His first job was with the State of Ohio Department of Transportation in Delaware, after which he then worked for Fairfield Engineering, Marion, and with OHM in Findlay.  He was currently working as an engineer for Transcontinental Engineered Systems based out of Blaine, Washington.

Dave was a member of Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky where he held several leadership roles and enjoyed investing in the next generation. He also served community ministries including being a past board President of both Open Door and of Bethel Ministries. He was active in the Emmaus and Chrysalis communities in Findlay.

Dave enjoyed spending the winters with his family in Texas, as well as woodworking, riding his motorcycle, knitting while watching football, golfing, bowling, and bird watching.

We will always remember him for his commitment to Jesus and love for his family. We will miss his words of wisdom and eagerness to listen. His quick wit and love of pockets always made us laugh.

Celebration of the life of David M. Hines will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Trinity Evangelical U.M.C. with Pastors Jim Stauffer and Bob Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitations will be held on Monday, December 13, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Lucas- Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and 1 hour before service time at the church on Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to Open Door Resource Center and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
