Dallas “Doc” and “Poppy” Barth, age 83, of Apple Valley, Ohio, and formerly of Upper Sandusky, passed away peacefully, while holding his daughters hands, on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
Dallas was born on January 15, 1943, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to Thelma (Frank) Barth. He was once married to Sheila Aldridge and she preceded him in death.
Dallas is survived by his two daughters, Lisa (Micah) Fratangelo of Apple Valley, Julia (Brody) Boggs of Mt. Vernon, and his 7 grandchildren: Lola, Luca, Parker, Abby, Toby, Sawyer, and Jude.
Dallas was also preceded in death by his mother Thelma.
Dallas graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1961 and attended Ohio University. He then went to work at Westinghouse/AO Smith for over 40 years until his retirement.
Dallas was a lover of nature, especially his daily walks at Stepping Stones Park, watching and feeding the birds. He loved sitting in the sun, working on his tan, listening to classic rock. He loved to watch sports, although he had no team loyalty, he simply enjoyed watching the games. He was a collector of all things – sports memorabilia, old coins, crystals, and more. He loved going down to the Boxcar to play pool with his buddies and he was a proud member of the “Silver Fox Gang.” Most importantly, Dallas was the worlds best Poppy. He spent time with family every single day and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
A memorial service for Dallas Barth will be held at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, January 20, 2025, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and will be officiated by Pastor Steve Sturgeon.
Visitations will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on Tuesday, prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice, and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
